Backpack Phone Holder: A Shark Clip for Your Shoulder Strap

Some people would rather not dig a phone out of a pocket every few minutes. On Reddit, one person asking about a phone mount on an everyday backpack wrote: “There are times that I’d like to mount my phone on the shoulder strap of my backpack.”

A backpack phone holder is one answer: our collection describes these as mounts that “attach a phone to a compatible backpack strap.” We sell one, so read this as a shop’s notes on its own listing and collection page.

What our listing says

We list the Backpack Phone Holder with Shark Clip in our backpack strap phone mounts collection.

Our listing says it “combines a wide black shark clip with a short hinged arm and a rectangular phone cradle.” It names these parts:

1. Clip. The base has toothed jaws.
2. Joint. A long side thumbscrew secures the joint above it.
3. Cradle. The phone cradle grips two opposing edges of the device.

The listing calls it “a phone mount for backpack straps on the wearer’s side, not a pocket.”

People search for one like this as “backpack phone holder”, “phone mount for backpack”, “phone holder for backpack”, “backpack strap phone holder”, “phone holder for backpack strap”, “backpack phone mount”, “backpack strap phone mount”, “backpack phone clip”, “backpack camera mount” or “backpack strap camera mount”.

Before you use it

Our listing gives these checks and setup steps:

1. Strap. Check the shoulder strap’s thickness and where the clip will sit. The clip has to sit where the strap is flat.
2. Stationary. Set it up while stationary.
3. Phone. Position the phone in the cradle with both contact jaws engaged and keep the controls clear.
4. Check. Check the joint and strap attachment before releasing your hand.

Our listing says: “Phone, backpack and cameras shown in listing examples are not included.”
